Thanks for your time.

Moderator... if you feel that this is just useless spam then by all means let me know and I will depart, I have no desire to spam but only to connect independant game developers together.
Hey, I just found your website, and I think you've really done a great job with Mokoi! I didn't have any idea you existed until today, but I actually run a project that's very similar to yours: MirthKit (www.mirthkit.com)

Its kind of freaky that the names are even kind of similar.

I just wanted to stop by and say that I hope you keep working on Mokoi. Mokoi is open source, where we aren't -- and its important that people have the choice to run an open platform. :)

-Chase

(by the way, sorry for the double post. This is the more appropriate spot)

Welcome to visitors from openzelda.sourceforge.net and openlegends.sourceforge.net, thanks for checking out Mokoi Gaming. I want to talk about the history of these two projects and their connection to this project.

History
Open Zelda was a project started by Greg D. aka 'GD', originally as a freeware game base on the Zelda universe, then a Zelda Game Maker then finally as a generalise Game Maker. In late December 2002, 'GD' release the source under the GPL v2 to sourceforge.net. Open Legends was going to the next version of Open Zelda, but starting from scratch. Due to way it was written it was hard for inexperience programmer to work on, thus only 2 people have submitted code, majority of that was done by 'Kronuz'. To this point in time, no usable release have been made of Open Legends and only one new release of Open Zelda have been made under the Legend of OZ name.

I've been involved will both of these project and was frustrated with lack of development, this lead me to create Mokoi, which at time was just the player/engine. Unlike Open Zelda or Open Legends, it was designed for portability, but follow a similar design. Times passed, an editor was created so files didn't have to edited by hand, and the project expanded into what it is now.

Differences
Mokoi Games can be played and created on many platforms, Open Zelda is limited to Windows.
Mokoi Gaming is under active public development, Open Zelda has seen very little development.
Mokoi Games can have upto 4,294,967,296 maps which can be at any resolution, Open Zelda is limited 65,536 maps at 320x240*
Mokoi Game maps offers drawing of Tile-able Sprites, Animations, Texts, Rectangles, Circles plus others** on multiple layer, Open Zelda is limited to Tiles, Sprites and Animations.
Mokoi Games use less memory then Open Zelda Quests.
Mokoi Gaming supports graphics output via SDL, OpenGL and Direct3D, Open Zelda is built around Direct3D which does allow Sprite rotation and Colorising at no cost to performance.
Open Zelda has usable of version of game content, Mokoi Gaming does not at this time.
...more to be added at a later date...

Converter Tools
OZ2Mokoi: http://members.optus.net/lukex/mokoi/downloads/OZ2Mokoi.rar
(Tries to) Convert Open Zelda quests to Mokoi Games.
Includes a early version of OZ layer for Entities.
